October 1st – Short story

Image
I was lost in the gaze. The view before me, even though not far from my nose, appeared a mile away. It was one of those days; my mind was restless and in an attempt to free it, I left the house foraging for an inner peace. The beach is one of my favourite places to visit whenever I needed some time alone. I enjoy the tranquillity and calmness coupled with the cool breeze that greeted me at my favourite spot. The wave would roll with speed and crash at the feet of people playing at the shore before drawing its hand back into its body; an event that continues till the end of time-   after all, it does all the time I spent out there. As I sat away from the water body owing to my irrational phobia, I observed the splendorous blue colour above the magnificent sea which gives the impression of a meeting point of the sky and the beach. I appreciated the scenery been fed to my eyes and wish I could be courageous enough to sail down there someday in my life time or perhaps

THE BLANK PAGE AND THE FULL PEN (A short story)

Sometimes, the pages in our marriages/relationships remain blank because we couldn’t find the right words to fill them. We must learn to listen to that word coming out from within us in order to fill those blanks. It has saved many, but a lot still fails in that facet. _Start_ Akin stood, ignoring her totally while she wears a grimace about to burst out of full words from within her. An argument had ensued between both of them. “Say something; hold her; after all, you love her.” his inner voice said. “Why must it be me all the time? I must let her know I am the man here.” He vehemently replied his inner voice. “I feel like killing him. I don’t even know why I fell in love with this beast? He is not caring at all. He talks rude.” Said Bimpe , under her breathe. “Speak to him gently; two wrongs can never make a right...Look, he is getting angrier.” Her inner voice replied. “He thinks I am stupid. Why should I talk to him?” She fought back. The silence

In Africa, especially the part where I hail from, reincarnation is a belief which has a strong foundation in the heart of the people and my experience thus far seems to be somewhat exciting but worrying. It was the 28th of Decembe r 1994; he could remember vividly. Little Yemi heard her mother’s sobbing voice quivering over the phone as she put several calls across to family members all over the town about the demise of Grandpa. “He was still hearty yesterday,” he heard her said to another relative “but it got worse in the evening when he had a heart attack; it was his third for the week, but the doctor reported him as BID when we got to the hospital where his remains lay as I speak.” Little Yemi never understood the word ’BID’, but when he found the dictionary meaning, he felt bad. While standing behind the door eavesdropping, he remembered how Grandpa would stay up on Friday nights to watch late night movie with him until he falls asleep and the next morning, he wo

SOURLY-EVER-AFTER; A wishful preclusion...

The morning was depressed and the gloomy sky was about to shed some tears. The trees from both sides of the road waver in agony, shedding their leaves like never before, while the road got filled up by them. The morning breeze gently blew the leaves forward and the leaves travels irregularly, knowing not their destination. -- Seven Years back in the University; His sexual drive had increase ever since she ‘deflowered’ him. Although his brilliancy was one to beat, yet, his slip back then towards academic had become obvious to all. His only luck was the advantageous retentive memory which had aided him all through his final exams but could not get him above the average pass marks for the two courses he took at that final year. This raised eyebrows as students who were used to checking his results first before theirs on the board saw it as a bitter pill to swallow. For Sade, she got the entire academic assistant she needed from the supposed book-worm; he would eve

She gently unbuttoned his shirt, rubbing his chest continuously. Her palm could feel his heartbeat. Femi stood unbelievably but in anticipation of the next event that will unfold. Her mouth gently explored his and he calmly returned the kiss as she positioned his hands on her soft bottom. She appeared to be in total control as she unzipped his trouser. They are now unclad after he has reciprocated her gesture with getting her bra and the ‘pink’ pant off. Sade aims for his penis, stroking it till there is a sturdy erection. Femi’s eyes became closed leaving his mouth excitingly gaping for air as Sade gave him a thorough blow job while he lay back flat on the bed. He tried reaching for her breast but it appears far away from his grasp, so he resorted to rubbing her ear lobes. Femi felt like a flying kite as she kept exploring his penis which has remained untouched by another since his birth. It was Femi’s turn to return the oral stimulation of her genital par

THE BEGINING OF THE END (short story)

Life and death have an essence to their long existence amidst the human race. The duo may be advantageous to some people, and it may be the converse to others. With little or no control over either and while the choir sings the regular “We shall meet by the river’s side...”, I stared at the brown wooden coffin being lowered into the perfectly dug six-foot rectangular grave while the fountain of tears from her eyes and several bereaved relatives flowed uncontrollably. “Dust for dust, ashes for ashes...” the priest read on from his hand book while receiving response from quivering voice of all mourners. At that point, it was time to give the last respect to the dead by pouring a handful of sand onto the grounded coffin. “Whoever killed my husband will never go unpunished...they have broken my front tooth... they have burnt me with the fire of life...,” Her voice echoed as she paid her last respect, while she struggled to follow him into the grave, but she was securely held by one
