Time and Tide.

I just listened to a song by Late Sir Oliver de Coq; a renowned highlife musician from the eastern part of Nigeria. A song which he dedicated to the "People's Club of Nigeria"....

I also heard the sonorous voice of Late Haruna Ihsola in a song dedicated to the "Oroki Social Club of Oshogbo"....

No doubt, these songs are melodious and as at the time they records were waxed, it must have hit the top of the music chart.

I began to wonder where the member constituting these clubs would be on a day like this. Most will definitely be reposing in their graves just like the two musicians and If any is fortunate to be alive by now, he or she would be so to partake in any social activities whatsoever.

This made me think deeply that truly, time and tides affects human activities and that no situation last forever.

THE BEGINING OF THE END (short story)

Life and death have an essence to their long existence amidst the human race. The duo may be advantageous to some people, and it may be the converse to others. With little or no control over either and while the choir sings the regular “We shall meet by the river’s side...”, I stared at the brown wooden coffin being lowered into the perfectly dug six-foot rectangular grave while the fountain of tears from her eyes and several bereaved relatives flowed uncontrollably. “Dust for dust, ashes for ashes...” the priest read on from his hand book while receiving response from quivering voice of all mourners. At that point, it was time to give the last respect to the dead by pouring a handful of sand onto the grounded coffin. “Whoever killed my husband will never go unpunished...they have broken my front tooth... they have burnt me with the fire of life...,” Her voice echoed as she paid her last respect, while she struggled to follow him into the grave, but she was securely held by one
